Astromania is an educational game that teaches and tests your knowledge on astronomy by means of a few simple puzzle games and quizzes. The game combines matching games with a series of quizzes and self-study guides where you will learn about different subjects, like the planets, galaxies, satellites, stars, stellar objects like nebula, comets, meteors, and others.
Gameplay basically consists in matching pictures with their correct names. The game will show you two sets of cards on the screen, one with the pictures of the planets or space objects and other with names or clues, and your task will be to match them properly using the mouse. After completing a round, you will be prompted to answer a bonus question that can improve your score.
Before starting a game, you can choose any of the seven difficulty levels and the subject you want to learn about. Apart from the matching games, the game includes an IQ test that will assess your knowledge through a series of 20 questions on the subject of your choice.
Astromania was first released in 2000, thus its dated look and feel. With an updated GUI and richer multimedia content, it would be a very attractive option for kids and all those interested in learning the basics of astronomy.
